Introduction
There are three major classes of computers: mainframes, minicomputers and microcomputers. As computer technology has developed, the lines between these classes have blurred and each class has stretched its boundaries into the other. Today's desktop computers (microcomputers) are capable of performing calculations which 30 years ago would have been limited to the powerful mainframe computer class. This research examines the state of the microcomputer market and considers the current technology available, as well as where that technology is headed and the effect of that technology on decision makers.
Description of the Technology
Microcomputers are those systems which are commonly referred to as "desktop" computers. These systems were originally designed for individual us

TECHNOLOGY FROM THE INSTITUTIONALIST PERSPECTIVE
Introduction
This research considers the concept of technology from a perspective of institutionalist economics. Institutionalist economic thought is reviewed, and the concept of technology from an institutionalist perspective is considered within the contexts of (1) technological progress, (2) technology and cultural evolution, and (3) technology and instrumental behavior.

The purpose of this research is to examine changes in American immigration patterns of Asian American women after World War II. The plan of the research will be to set forth the context in which the shift in Asian immigration to the U.S. toward predominance of women occurred and then to discuss, with reference to Espiritu’s Asian American Women and Men, effects that these immigrant women have had on the general structure of Asian immigration to the U.S. and on the relationship between immigrant Asian men and women in particular.
What Espiritu describes as “engendered” structures of relationships between Asian men and women in the U.S. and of the relationship between the dominant culture and Asian women is the focus of her analysis of the impact of the predominance of Asian women over Asian men as immigrants to the U.S. in recent years. She c

Introduction
During the late 1990s, the term, "New Economy," began appearing in articles and news reports as analysts sought to describe transactions that were largely Internet-based, or at least transactions which did not require consumers entering a brickandmortar store. Articles were written about the young entrepreneurs who were rewriting business rules, about companies where Casual Friday evolved into Casual Everyday, and how the New Economy would radically change the entire business landscape. As 2000 draws to a close, however, it is becoming obvious that the Old Economy is not going to go away entirely. Many of the touted "dot com" companies have gone bankrupt as they were unable to produce that most traditional product of the Old Economy: profit. New Economy companies are finding that they must integrate Old Economy facto

The Technology
The Chargemaster, which is also known as the Charge Description Master (CDM), is a master price list which includes prices for all services, supplies, devices, and medications charged for inpatient and outpatient services billed by a healthcare facility (Drach, Davies and Sagrati, 2001). Although some departments may produce independent bills, the majority of the items billed for in the treatment of a patient will be derived from the Chargemaster. Each medicare reimbursement for outpatient services CPT and HCPCS codes assigned to charges are converted into APC groups, and each APC will generate a predetermined payment amount, which is then multiplied by the number of units for that charge. Capture and coding of all service charges, medical visits, or diagnostic and surgical
