This paper will provide an analysis of the development of jazz in the United States. After a brief overview of the history of the art form, the paper will turn to an analysis of some of the major types of early jazz--ragtime, blues, New Orleans jazz, the Big Band, and Bebop. Finally, the paper will conclude with some of the personalities that made jazz such a vital and exciting art form: Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Charlie Parker, and Thelonious Monk.

The Entry of the Ottoman Empire into World War I
This paper will examine how the Ottoman Empire, or Turkey, became actively involved in the First World War on the side of the Central Powers. The paper will briefly discuss the political and economic state of affairs in the Empire from the time the last Sultan, Abdul Hamid II, was deposed until the summer of 1914. The Ottoman search for a powerful European ally will be examined in greater detail, as will be the reasons for the final alliance between the ottomans and Germany. Finally, the paper will discuss the events of the summer and f all of 1914 which led to the Turkish entry in to the War in November of 1914.

This research examines the pre-Second World War neutrality controversy in the United States. The most vocal opponents of changes to the nation's position of neutrality were the isolationists; however, German-American and Irish-American groups strongly opposed changes they feared would ally the United States more closely with the United Kingdom, and commercial and industrial interests opposed changes that would impinge on their freedom to trade with willing buyers. The most visible proponents of changes to the nation's neutrality laws were those individuals and groups who denounced what they perceived to be the inherent evilness of the sitting governments in Germany, Italy, and Japan. This research reviews the economy of the Philippines. Economic development over the past two decades (growth and downfalls), and current economic conditions are surveyed. National economic policy orientation and application are examined with an emphasis placed on the role of government in economic management (industry and state). Monetary policy orientation and outcomes are considered, and regional economic policy initiatives are discussed within the contexts of fiscal policy and national economic objectives.

The study methodology involves the review of published materials and the reporting of relevant published economic statistical data. The review of the Brazilian economy does not involve the performance of statistical analysis; however, the review does include the assessment of data presented.
