This paper examines some of the most fundamental concepts associated with using the scientific method to conduct research in the field of psychology. The main topics addressed include: the science of psychology, the scientific method, qualitative vs. quantitative research; and scientific theory construction and testing.
"Mixed methods" means the use of a quantitative and a qualitativecomponent in the research.
