This paper provides a case study regarding the personality development of John Lennon (1940-1980). The psychosocial approach is found to be the most useful one in explaining Lennon's personality. The paper also considers ways that Lennon's personality could be measured and assessed and argues that the Psychosocial Inventory of Ego Strengths (PIES) would be the most useful one in his case.
